Product
MublicEarth creates KML data which it overlays over a Google Maps map. Users are able and encouraged to add data of their own and refine the information already within the project.
History
The Public Earth Project was created in December 2007 by Duncan McCall and David Hose, with the time between then and November 2009 spent gathering data for the initial release. In November 2009 PublicEarth.com opened to the public, and had almost 5 million points of interest at release[1].
