mySociety is the project of the registered charity 'UK Citizens Online Democracy'.

mySociety develop and run a range of democracy websites in the UK. The most relevant from a transport perspective are the Travel Time Maps, Mapumental, FixMyStreet, and the GeoVation winner FixMyTransport.

mySociety states two main aims: The first is to be a charitable project which builds websites that give people simple, tangible benefits in the civic and community aspects of their lives. The second is to teach the public and voluntary sectors, through demonstration, how to use the internet most efficiently to improve lives. [1]

mySociety was founded in September 2003 by Tom Steinberg. The first year was aimed at raising money and soliciting the public and colleagues for ideas. The first funding arrived in September 2004 and by the end of 2005 a number of projects had been launched with more following in subsequent years.[1]
