LiveBus is a website that places real time bus data onto a map and allows the user to check bus times from bus stops.

Contents

Product

LiveBus uses data from a collection of sources - the map is from Google Maps, the bus stops themselves are taken from NaPTAN (National Public Transport Access Nodes) with the routes and times donated by local authorities. Unfortunately the site does not have bus data for all counties, and East Anglia's bus stops are missing from the site.

People

James Wheare is the London based web developer who created LiveBus.

History

LiveBus won the Young Innovator Award at the 2007 New Statesman New Media Awards.

Impact

For anyone in an area LiveBus provides coverage it can be a very useful tool for any trip using a bus, how the usefulness of the site is limited by the gaps in the data.
