GPicSync is an open source program that geocodes images and videos.

Product

GPicSync is currently available on both Windows and Unix (including Mac OS X) operating systems.

Beyond its primary geocoding utility GPicSync also includes time correction features and the ability to read, and amend, EXIF data.

Impact

GPicSync means images can be uploaded to Flickr and other Web 2.0 sites and be attached to a spatial location with less effort on the part of the uploader. The linking of data in such a way follows the growth of Web 2.0.
